Short Description of Instrument
The Preschool Language Scales - Fifth Edition (PLS-5) is an interactive instrument used to assess language delays or disorders in children from birth up to age 8. Consisting of two standardized scales, Auditory Comprehension and Expressive Communication, the PLS-5 has been used in both clinical and research settings. In clinical practice the test has been used to assess language skills and monitor progress in grammatical language. (Finestack & Satterlund, 2018) In research settings the PLS-5 has been used to measure levels or gains in language abilities among children with autism spectrum disorder or hearing deficits. (Bourque et al., 2019; Hsiao et al., 2021)
