• Shunt dependent hydrocephalus is defined as clinical symptoms of hydrocephalus (decreased mental status, axial rigidity, and incontinence) with radiographic evidence of enlarged ventricles or a high opening pressure on repeated lumbar punctures requiring the insertion of a VP shunt for CSF diversion. Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) is also recorded, if used as alternative for shunt insertion.
